Bill Hensley

Bill is the station manager at Boomerang Radio, and has had an interest in radio since he was 10 years old and listened to Radio Luxembourg on a crystal set that he built with his dad, yes, are you old enough remember crystal sets? He was then bought a transistor radio as a Christmas present, and his uncle introduced him to Radio London, a pirate station on 266 meters medium wave. Bill was hooked and wanted to be a DJ. Before all the security of today, he telephoned the BBC and asked for various DJ’s program producers, and was invited to visit the live studios. He met Tony Blackburn, Kenny Everett, Keith Skues, Pete Murray, Alan Freeman and many more, too many to mention here. Bill moved from London to Warboys and joined Hospital Radio at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and took over the role of Chairman, had a show on RAF Wyton and RAF Brampton’s internal radio networks, founded an headed up Huntingdon Community Radio in 1997, and has now formed Boomerang Radio, a worldwide digital service.
