As a teenager I was fascinated by radio. I was a mobile disco DJ in the 1980’s and I also dabbled in Hospital radio, but instead of presenting my career path led me into Engineering. Years later whilst helping to build a studio for a community station I was asked to have a go on air.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I wasn’t terrible at it, and I wanted to do more. In 2001 I worked together two friends to create Netcast Radio, one of the UK’s first Internet Radio stations, operating from a studio in Peterborough.

Unfortunately we were a bit ahead of the time (this was before broadband internet) and it only lasted for a couple of years, but by this time I had been bitten by the radio bug!

Since then I have been involved in the startup of number of community stations across in the East of England, in both engineering and presenting.

I’ve helped to train media students in Peterborough and presented on local stations including Lite FM and Black Cat Radio. I was also part of the radio team at Truckfest FM, broadcasting in Peterborough and at other show locations around the UK.

I thought that I’d probably hung my headphones up for good, until I heard about Boomerang Radio. I’m delighted to be involved in this exciting new station.
